Hose & Fitting Guide: Choosing the Right Aeroflow Combination
Building a fuel, oil, coolant or breather system and not sure which hose and fittings actually go together? You're definitely not alone. With 100, 200, 250, 400, 450 and 500 Series hose, plus several different fitting families, it gets confusing quickly.
Here's the short version: choose your hose first, then match the fitting series to it. Not every Aeroflow fitting works with every hose.
Start with the hose
Choose your hose based on the fluid, pressure, temperature and application first. Then match it with the correct fitting series.
100 Series
The traditional performance braided hose option. A CPE synthetic rubber inner makes it a strong general-purpose choice for fuel, oil, coolant and air systems. Pairs with 100, 150, 500 and 550 Series hose ends.
200 Series
Steps up to a PTFE inner liner with stainless braid. Particularly useful where chemical resistance, pressure capability and reduced fuel vapour permeation matter. Match it with 200 or 570 Series PTFE hose ends.
250 Series
A PTFE smooth-bore liner with a black nylon outer braid — most of the benefits of 200 Series PTFE hose, with a stealthier black appearance. Also uses 200 or 570 Series hose ends.
400 Series
The easy-to-assemble push-lock option. Ideal for plenty of fuel, oil, coolant and air applications where a reusable push-lock system makes sense. Pair it with 400 or 510 Series push-lock fittings.
450 Series
A CPE synthetic rubber inner with a lightweight black nylon braided outer. A good option when you want the traditional reusable cutter-style fitting system without the stainless braided look. Use 100, 150, 500 or 550 Series fittings.
500 Series
Another push-lock option, with reinforced synthetic rubber construction. Suits 400 and 510 Series push-lock hose ends.
Which fitting series should you choose?
Once the hose is settled, the fitting style narrows down quickly.
- 100 and 500 Series — traditional multi-piece reusable design
- 150 and 550 Series — the full-flow versions, with a one-piece body for a smoother, less restrictive flow path
- 400 Series — the traditional push-lock option
- 510 Series — full-flow one-piece push-lock
- 200 and 570 Series — for PTFE hose, with the 570 Series again being the full-flow one-piece alternative
A couple of things to watch
Don't choose hose purely by AN size or appearance. Construction matters, particularly with different fuels, power-steering systems, transmission fluid, vacuum applications, and higher temperatures or pressures.
The fitting also needs to be designed for the hose you're using. A -6AN fitting being the correct size doesn't automatically mean it's compatible with every -6 hose.
Still not sure what you need?
Tell us what you're plumbing, what fluid you're running and what size hose you want to use, and the Stealth Ride team can match up the hose, fittings and adapters for you. Give us a call on 04 830 4141.
Getting the combination right from the beginning makes the installation easier, and saves finding out halfway through the job that you've bought two different series that don't work together.
